Hello there!!
After so many DVD authoring this is the firt time I have this problem.
I’m trying to make a DVD backup (only film) from “Star Wars Episode III” (R2-Germany) with my own subtitles.
Ripping was not the problem, I got the files on my HD using DVD Decrypter (last version).
So, I’ve tried to synch my own subtitles, frameserving with Avisynth... Then I got the first problem: At the beginning of the film, when the introduction comes, the video was shakeing playing parts of english and german, then I realized that part of the video was splitted in two languages... Then I decided to rip the DVD with DVD Schrink (no compresion), leaving the unnecesary files.
Everything was ok, I got the files on my HD, I frameserved with avisynth and I got my subs in synch, that I converted after using SubtitleCreator.
After that, I wanted to reauthor the DVD using VobEdit & IfoEdit (both last versions) I demux the files with VobEdit, then I tried to reauthor with IfoEdit... everything in place...m2v, ac3, sup, chapters... and I got this error message from IfoEdit:
“Could not open for writing”
I’ve tried also Muxman... the program seems to do the job... at least the Vobs, but it can not get the Bups and Ifos after...
So people... Some ideas why this is happening?
Greetings! :)

I retry with MuxMan... and I got this error message:
Reference to a non-existant scene "Segment_1_scn73" from PGC "VTS01_TTL_PGC1"
However, MuxMan gave me this message after finished to mux the files.
I got the VOBs and I create a new IFOs with IfoEdit... It kind of worked.
Now I have the backup, but without chapters... wich is something not so terrible.
Anyway, I would like to know if there is a better way to solve this problem.
Greetings!

All the starwars dvd have multi angles (and random menu's), you should have striped 1 angle with dd.

It was Angle 1...

Do you mean the disk has only 1 angle or you striped angle 1 ?

? you could see the german jumping to english text and back, and it was one angle ?
I only had this effect ones when dvd rebuilder didn't suport multi angels and i proceded anyway. The dvd worked ok exept for jumping in the start (were the 2 angles where).

I mean, in the first ripping I did not select the angle, that's the reason the video was shakeing. But after, with DVD Schrink I selected angle 1... and I still got the error from IfoEdit.

Are you sure shrink take's out all the angle info ? Try a fresh ripped m2v 1 angle with dvdDecrypter.

The most common cause of the "non-existant scene" error is too many scenes (chapters) in the list. Many programs that produce chapter lists, or celltimes, put the total number of frames in the last line. Several programs now offer a choice about the last line.
If the missing chapter is the last one, this is the cause. To fix it:
0.15 and older - remove the last line of the chapter list before importing. You will need to create the project again
0.16 and later - edit the scene list (using the spreadsheet) to remove the extra chapter.

So... It seems to be that I'm getting somewhere...
I thank you all for the replies.
I did a "Stream Processing" with DVD Decrypter, demuxing video and audio file only and it worked prefectly with IfoEdit DVD Authoring... :)
As I said before, I used DVD Shrink because I didn't want to mess up with the angles and it was sure angle 1.
But in the process with DVD Shrink, I used DVD Region + CSS Free too.
So, the final question is:
Did DVD Region + CSS Free have something to do with this problem or was something of DVD Shrink?
Greetings!
