Good Morning everyone, I'd like to get some help on the following:
I'd like to "rip" the "audio" files from a DVD(Live Concert) and download them to my PC hardrive so I can create my own CD with the only music that I want to hear at anytime. Do I need a particular software to do this?, a program?,etc. I would appreciate any help/feedback and again, thank you for having this forum open for everyone, is a wonderful thing.

Use DVD Decrypter in IFO mode to rip the main "movie," then using DGIndex extract the audio. You can select Audio > Output Method > Decode to WAV, or use BeLight to convert the demuxed AC3 to WAV or MP3. I personally would decode directly to WAV, then use something like Cool Edit to save it in sections as individual WAVs which can be burned to audio CDs, creating tracks.

Ripping
I would demux the VOBs with DVD-Decrypter or DGIndex
~> one big AC3 file

De/Re-encoding
then would feed this complete file to HeadAC3 (version from december 2004 or later! important) and decode the AC3 to a Dolby Surround ProLogic II (even if your actual hardware doesnīt support DPLII - you donīt know what you will buy next ;) )
~> one big WAV 48KHz

Downsampling/Normalization
CDAudio (rebook) needs 48 KHz
you can do this with many applications - chose the one you prefer f.e. besweet/belight, WaveWizard etc.
(Hint: HeadAC3 can do this for you in one step, too)
~> one big WAV 44.1KHz

Tracks without cutting the WAV via CUE Sheet
last step trhe single tracks - I would recommond to go back to your source DVD and take a look on the single tracks length via DVD-Decrypter.
Next you have to build a CUE file on this WAV by using CUEListTool a freeware I prefer for all kind of CUE operations. Now you have to import the WAV and type in your trackīs length (Title, Artist ... optional) and save the CUE file. (CUEListTool also let you check the tracks with a replay function.)
~> CUE + WAV
Edit: You might use this (http://www.fr-an.de/soft/p01/index.htm) tool which makes things definitively easier, thx to LigH

Burning
the rest is easy: open the CUE file with nero, insert your CD-Rom and burn Baby burn!
~> CDAudio in Dolby Surround ProLogic II
(which of course also can be replayed with a normal stereo equipment)

Final hints: remember, if your source is longer than ~79:30 min you have to cut the WAV at least one time, Audacity does a good job on this, finally donīt forget to fade in/out in this case
Most of the mentioned programs can be found on needfulthings (http://www.needfulthings.webhop.org) :p

@Johnman
this could be a further function inside ww

decoding AC3 to DPLII
transforming a chapterlist to a working CUE Sheet with the option of adding Artist, Track Name, Album etc.

This doesnt seem to hard to do... it wil be in the next release :D

decoding AC3 to DPLII

I believe it is possible to use azid for DPL-II encodeing from ac3, but if i want to do something like this, i would rather have it working on any multichannel input (also wav,dts etc) . I have to look into this. Idea seems good, but i dont know how hard it is to get solid info on DPL-II encoding.

You can use this channel mapping:

6->2#mix#inactive#Dolby Prologic II downmix
0.323 0.000 0.000 0.323 0.228 0.228 0.000 0.000 -0.263 0.186 -0.186 0.263

- The exact coefficients must be:

Sour/Dest 0-LEFT 1-RIGHT (Wav_Ord)
--------- ------- ------- -------
Channel_0 0.3225 0 Front_L
Channel_1 0 0.3225 Front_R
Channel_2 0.2280 0.2280 Center
Channel_3 0 0 LFE
Channel_4 -0.2633 0.1862 Back_L
Channel_5 -0.1862 0.2633 Back_R

but the capture box in WW Channel Mapping is limited. Is possible edit mappings.ini to put more exact coefficients?

- This matrix is copied from source code of BS_Downmix plugin for BeSweet (http://besweet.notrace.dk/plug-ins.htm), and, I think, is used in BeSweet-azid.
Warning: the original source code expect an ac3 channel order (FL-C-FR-SL-SR-LFE)

- Like you can see in this matrix the LFE channel is lost.
DPL II is a logic 5.0 and any balanced signal is send to Center channel, but modern audio equipments can redirect low frequencies to subwoofer ... ?

- The output stereo wav must be normalized to avoid low volume.

I'll increase the precission with 2 additional numbers, that should be enough, dont you think?

General question: is there a flag on the stream needed or does the decode always knows how to decode DPLII
HeadAC3 works via acid - no flag is set - DPLII sounds fine! :)

Thanks "CWR03" for replying back to me, but I'm very new at this and I'd like to know if you can make the steps that I need to take a little more clearer, please, such as What kind of VDV decrypter?, any brand?, any model?, what's DGindex?, what's Belight?, I don't mean to be a pain, but I just need to download the music files from a DVD just like you would from a music CD to my PC and then just burn them to a CD and listen away, again thank you.
