hi, I have two videos that I want to join with VD, the problem is that when I want to append the second video a message popups saying "cannot append segment: the video streams have different data format"
both movies are according to gspot:

640x480 16bits, 25fps & encoded divx 4.12 but one shows in the container info "Multipart OpenDML avi" and the other "OpenDML avi 2.0"

the problem is that due to this difference (I think, I'm newbie in this) VD cannot join them, what can I do? there is any way to solve this without loose quality on one of the videos? if not what should I do first to be able to join them later?

thanks in advance

Hi!

Try the following:

Open the first file under VirtualDub - Set BOTH "Video" and "Audio" to "Direct Stream Copy" and from under the "File" dropdown menu, select "Save .AVI" and save with a NEW filename.

Repeat the procedure for the second file.

Try joining the two NEW files...

hi setarip_old, thanks for reply

I tried but it didn't work, after saving in direct stream copy mode when I reload the files to try to joining them the same message popups.

Then you'll probably best be served by re-encoding BOTH videos with identical video and audio settings...
