:scared:

I just bought a pioneer dvr-110d. I hooked everything up, and turned the computer back on, and thats all I got was a black screen. I then took the cover off of the tower, and disconneted the power to the dvr. After that the computer started up just fine.

Another problem I am having is the drive did not come with any software. I can not find the driver for it. Everything I find is an update. I can not update what I do not have.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Brad

your power supply probably can't hack it. video cards are very demanding of power, and the 110d might have pushed it over the edge. try unplug all USB devices and boot with the drive plugged in, or unplug something non-essential (floppy drive? my machine doesn't even have one) and reboot.

as for software, the drive was probably an OEM. you often have to pay $5 extra for the disc. but don't worry - there's plenty of stuff out there for it. pioneer will have firmwares and a flasher utility, and cdfreaks will no doubt have a hacked firmware that allows more fun and games with the drive (riplock disabled, bitsetting, overspeeding etc). of course to enjoy that you have to get it all working first.

and yeah, a better thread title might help - it's not a dumb question at all, but rather a perfectly reasonable request for help :)
