Hi,

I tried to encode a movie using RB pro. CCE choked on one of my assets for soem reasons so I decided to load the ECL manually into CCE to see if that would make a difference. Encoding went fine and now I want to rebuild the thing.

I tried to edit the rebuild.inf, but so far i'm not lucky. RB still thinks it needs to encodes assets. Can soemone give me some directions what i need to edit so that RB knows encoding is finished and the rebuilding can start.

change the progress line to the count of the avs past the file it choked on

well all files are encoded now, so I changed the encoded_progress line, but that doesn't give the desired result.

Exit from DVD-RB
Edit the Rebuilder.inf file [Status] section, changing the Progress=2 line to Progress=3.
Re enter in the application in order to fetch the changes...
Now the rebuild button should be enabled...

If you do that, though, you have to have been on the last segment... because the rest wouldn't have been encoded yet. if it wasn't the last segment, you could just just increment the "encode_progress=" number.

[Edit] Whoops. Changed "progress" to "encode_progress". Also, looking back at what was originally said -- Sir Didymus is 100% correct because the original post said that all the assets were completed..

and if you still have issues
copy your manual m2v files to a different folder
go to 3 click mode, run the encode
then copy over those files with your "good" ones
then rebuild

changing the status works. Thanks guys :)

@jdobbs,

Is there any way to add an indicator somewhere in the beginning of the segment section to let the user know what number the "encode_progress" belong to? Imagine you have over 100 segments to encode, and you have to count from the beginning to know what segment # you want to extract and re-encode individually. Of course I can use RME to re-encode that segment, but its bitrate allocation does not match with the ecl file currently.

e.g. [V02000300002003] (encode_progress #5)

A little OT, what does the value (1-4 ?) of "Completed" mean in the ini file? Does it affect encoding or rebuilding phase if you delete this parameter?

Let me be very clear about this...

This, or any direct modification of the INF file, isn't meant to be a tool for the end-user and shouldn't be viewed that way. Playing with values in the INF file is almost never a good idea. This post falls into the "tricks" category. The last thing I need is mid-to-low-understanding users writing me e-mails about how DVD-RB sucks after they've screwed the pooch by playing with files that are reserved for DVD-RB's usage. I've already had that problem with a couple of dozen other settings...

Yes, I understand your reluctance to add this as you may have to deal with new problems. No problem, just a suggestion. :) I'm just trying to understand what the other parameters mean, some I figure out on my own.

So, would you mind explain the values of Completed in ini file? I have a hunch, but I just want to make sure. Thanks.

I already feel guilty :scared: for bringing this up. Maybe I should have concentrated on figuring out why CCE didn't want to encode my asset when called from RB, while having no problem when loaded manually into CCE. But as usual I was just lazy and starting messing around with things I should stay away from :D.

On a serious note: I can completely understand that Jdobbs is reluctant to give this info. Although it can be very useful for a lot of skilled users it can also give him a lot of extra questions/problems.

For example after I manually edited the inf the musing still errored out and after that RB wouldn't start anymore without giving more errors. After completely shutting down the PC it would mux, but it was not very straight forward at all.
