Hi there! I'm a (very glad :D ) DVD-RB Pro user already for a long time (in those early days the status was 'VIP'). I've used on my AMD Athlon XP 2600+ desktop, doing backup from my DVDs using CCE 2.67 in multipass (2 pass) mode.

Lately I resolved testing OPV mode out in order to verify the algorithm and results from this RC chosen. After performed the backups, I can to verify that algo was OK (good file size) and quality excellent as well.

I got started to use AQE for curiosity, after the one being published at another video forum where I do participate. Ever since I'm a AQE beta-tester, helping on development of one.

I also have a NEC Versa notebook powered with a Athlon XP-M (mobile), which is mostly used by my wife like a 'luxury typewriter' :D. I resolved giving it a most useful usage: helping the encoding phase in RB 3-click mode. The first step - set up the network for two machines - was without troubles (both desktop and notebook are XP SP2).

The first attempt in using RB-Farm was with "Shark Tale" (2004 / R4) DVD. For this one I used CCE 2.67/ ECLCCE.exe 1.81. OPV mode and custom matrices for differents parts of DVD.

After some reading of content from D9 database and other resources, I got success to set up the "farm server" and "farm client".

The time left for all process (prepare, encode and rebuild phases) was 98 minutes (encode one took away 71 minutes). For comparison, I there was done a previous backup of this DVD on single machine (my Athlon XP desktop) in OPV mode and all process took 130 minutes (1-click mode). Also for comparison, I did a test with a previous release of AQE (AutoQMatEnc) encoder, also in OPV mode (but with QMatOp ON) and the time left was 305 minutes (alos 1-click mode).

OK, after the previous blabla, lets go to thread subject: AQE uses same ECL file as CCE 2.67; thus I thougth that maybe it could to work with RB-Farm in the same way that CCE one. So, I gave it (AQE) a try and ...

It worked like a champ!!!.

In this test, I used AQE with QMatOp OFF and used custom matrices in the same way as CCE encoding test. The time left for all process was 138 minutes (encode one take way 111 minutes) ... The quality is amazing.

From these tests with AQE (and others), I can to say: 1 - AQE is working very good with DVD-RB, being fully compatible with it; 2 - AQE is working very good in both Multipass and OPV modes; 3 - AQE is fully compatible with RB-Farm!

Well, I guess that time is over. I just wanted share my experiences with DVD-RB with the fellows from this forum ...

Regards,

I thought I would point out that Procoder 2.0 and EclPro .52 work great with RB Farm 1.7. You just need to get USB@nywhere from http://www.intellidriver.com and share the Hasp key. I have not tried Procoder Express. I have had it working across three Athlon 64 X2 systems. You just have to point the ECLCCE path to your EclPro directory and type in \ECLPRO.EXE on the line after the path.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the same may also be true of the HC encoder. I will have to try this later to see if it also works with RB Farm.
