 I am trying to convert MPEG2 file (my home video which I recorded from camcorder, edited and burned into MPEG2 file that plays anywhere) but AGK never finds audio - option AudioTrack is just "unknown audio" or "no audio" and hence no audio is heard in the output file.
Is AGK meant to convert also MPEG2 files (as it states in tutorials) or am I getting it wrong and is only suitable for converting DVDs?

"No audio" is not the same as "Unknown audio"(which is perfectly normal for badly mastered DVDs). Screenshot would help to understand what you're talking about.

Very simple: I'm not trying to convert DVD or DVD directories. No, I have number of short home videos - files in form of ****.mpg, I'd like to convert from MPEG2 to AVI format. That's all. No chapters, no subtitles, nothing. Just MPEG2 to AVI.
Bot AGK always states there is no audio in the files. In "Step 2" available audio options are only "unknown audio" or "no audio track". See picture (AGKscreen.jpg). I tried both options but produced ****.avi file has no audio

first, you are using way old version of AutoGK...
second, post you log file from encoding with version 2.20 if you still can't hear sound in resulting avi.
