alright, i only deal with widescreens, everybody always asking questions about how to get certain ratios...i tested most fixed widths and these are my settings

-1.78:1
fixed width of 656 will always result with a perfect ratio 656x368. i always turn autocrop off in this case, cuz it still results in a perfect 1.78 ratio. (letting autogk autocrop in this case might bring the same result, i dont remember...it doesnt make much of a difference anyways)
-1.85:1(let autogk autocrop for u)
fixed width of 592 will always result in a perfect ratio with resolution 592x320,
if 592 is too small for u, ull have to settle with 1.86 ratio using fixed width of 624 or 656
-2.35:1(let autogk autocrop for u)
fixed width of 640 will always result in a perfect ratio with resolution 640x272

so just change ur audio and filesize, etc. to whatever in order to maintain good compressibility and ur good to go!

i always deal with these exact fixed widths and they always work...if u want exact aspect ratio with some other widths good luck doin it urself...i think manual crop is only way at that point...

well i hope i helped! if not, sorry! im still a noob so i might be clueless without knowing what im really talking about...hence the term clueless :p

ps. to experienced users: in which case, if any, does autogk crop the left and right side of a picture in addition to the upper n lower black bars? i mean, would the autocrop vs manual crop be the same regarding those resolutions and settings i mentioned?(if i were to manual crop only the upper and lower black bars, leaving the left and right side untouched) thank you in advance whoever replies :D

The topic and contents of the above is very confusing to say the least. If I didn't know what you were talking about I could interpret that like: for all other resolutions there is actually an AR error and image will be slightly distorted. Which is absolutely not true. All resolutions would give you a perfect AR but to compensate for that different amount of cropping will be applied (from all four sides of the video).

If your point for having a "perfect AR" is to have minimum amount of cropping then it wouldn't be working all the time either since if there are 1-2 pixels that are need to be croppped from any-side of 720x480/576 video (assume for the moment there are no black bars in the original, i.e. its either full screen or 1.85 anamorphic) then more cropping will be applied for all the sides and another resolution might give you less cropping...
