View Full Version : Extract WMAPro 5.1 from a WMV-HD File?

I have a WMV-HD trailer with WMAPro 5.1 soundtrack, im messing about trying to convert it to H.264 and i want to convert the audio to AAC but i cant figure out how to extract the audio.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Assuming it's not DRM protected (and some WMV-HD trailers are not), use GraphEdit to open the file, then remove the audio and video renderers, then insert a WAV Dest filter after the WMA decoder, followed by a File writer component. Make sure Windows is configured for 5.1 speaker output and I believe you ought to get a 6ch WAV file as a result.

The "Wav dest" filter doesn't come with Windows so you'll have to google around for it a bit. It's a useful filter to have.
