View Full Version : App for comparing multiangles?

Occasionally I back up multiangle stuff, but I do them as separate titles. Sometimes the "multi" isn't very "multi" and I'd just as soon not bother with the second angle - is there an app where I can preview two clips, different angles of the same video, simultaneously so I can quickly judge if the two are different enough to warrant backing them both up?

Also, easy methods of ripping/authoring/burning multiangle stuff as God intended - true multiangle video instead of ripping/authoring/burning as separate titles - are welcome.

AFAIK, you can use DvdReMake Pro (http://www.dimadsoft.com/dvdremakepro/index.php) (not freeware) to preview multi-angle clips, and to strip the angle you only want. You can also strip out sections of a clip and still retain multi-angle, but do not strip out in the multi-angle section as it is not advisable.

Hi!

Is your desired end result a modified DVD, or a different converted/compressed format video?

Hawk: I could use a pointer or two as to how that's done with DVDRM Pro, if there's a demo available that is.

Setarip: Yes, I plan to burn it as a DVD (no conversion beyond what's necessary (say, demuxing maybe), and no compression - that's why I'm cutting it up, so I won't have to compress the video).

Look under the download page of the link I gave you above, there's a demo for you to try. The only drawback is it only let you export your modified DVD 15-sec clip of each cell. But don't worry about this since this is just a demo. The full registered version will work just fine.

Edit: I just remember that the demo does not support multi-angle disk, but the full version does. Reason being that it's difficult to chop 15-sec of multi-angle cell.

To view multi-angle clips, first import the DVD into DRMPro. Right-click on the largest VTS (movie) to bring up the context menu, and select "Strip angle". This will pop up a window for you to view every angle. Click on "Keep this" button to keep the angle you want. If the "Strip angle" is greyed out, that means the VTS is not multi-angle.

As for cutting, this feature is available via context menu at the preview window (on the right of the dvd tree). Use "Cut to here" or "Cut from here" after scrolling to the point where you want to cut at a specific cell/block/segment. Everything you want to do is available via popup menu.

Hmm, too bad the demo won't let me test that feature.

Thanks for your detailed response.

You could use DVD Decrypter in "File" mode - with "Multiangle processing" UNchecked in "File" mode "Settings"...

I think it is unchecked. Otherwise, he won't have multiangle dvd to start with. If I'm reading correctly, the intention is to preview the angle, and determine whether to keep or strip them, and cut some cells.

@Morlock,
There's another alternative. Use the demo to preview. Use IfoEdit to strip the angles. Only one angle can be kept. Then use VobBlanker to cut cells. If you decide to keep all angles, then VobBlanker can't be used to cut cells as it doesn't handle multiangle cells. More info can be found here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=728777#post728777).

@spyhawk

Hi!

I made my suggestion because nowhere in this thread does "Morlock" state that he/she is using DVD Decrypter...

yeah, I realize that. Don't know what ripper he is/was using. Or the multiangle source may already be on the HD.

Let's await his response.

I used DVD Decrypter (I use it for all my ripping and always in file mode with multiangle unchecked).
