I don't buy CDs much anymore (I don't like most of the new stuff released), but after reading about the rootkits Sony is installing, I will never buy another Sony released CD ever again.

What they've done is every bit as wrong as the piracy they're trying to prevent. I think in the future if I ever buy a Sony-produced CD, I'll play it on a Walkman and plug that into the Line In to record as a .wav.

ha! follow the link on that page to the tool that lets you uninstall the software...

you can't download the software from the site - it's buried under several levels of links under "troubleshooting>how do i uninstalled software", then you go to a customer service form that asks what disc, what country you bought it at, and what store you bought it at.

that's insult to injury i'd have thought...

oh, wait, there's also a link under "software updates", but it doesn't support firefox! (no activex).

i am NOT using the world's most unsecure browser to download a spyware update!!
