View Full Version : Problem with CCE

First of all, sorry for my English, I'm from Spain.
I'm using DoItFast4U, ScenAID, BatchCCEWS and Scenarist and yesterday begun my problems with CCE. I've made a lot of conversions with this method but suddenly the CCE started doing just the *.vaf file without doing the *.mpv file. I don't what's wrong, but it happens with CCE 2.7 and 2.67.
These are the files from the programs (txt):
CCEdata.txt (http://usuarios.lycos.es/almolly/dvd/CCEdata.txt)

hi Molly and welcome to the forum!
no need to apologise, your english is perfect. in fact, you have made one of finest first posts in the history of this forum, in regard to the information you have made avaliable :)
unfortunately though, i can not find anything in these logs which would explain why you get an error.
a few questions though:
1. how do you know that CCE is not creating a .mpv file?
2. did scenarist give you any import/compile errors?
3. did you change any of the default settings in BatchCCE?
4. can you open your .avs for VTS_01 in windows media player? does it give you any errors?
5. which version of BatchCCE are you using?
thanks

Wasn't there an issue with eclcce or something. I start to forget things.....
Did you update CCe to a higher version recently?
Now that my memory is starting to get back, I recently had a similar problem. i could solve it by using killaudio() in my avs, in stead of using the normal line.

Answering your questions jel:
1. CCE starts telling it's going to do 4 passes, but instead it just do one, writting the *.vaf Also, I can't find the *.mpv in the VTS01 folder.
2. Yes, it does. When trying to do the final files (multiplexing) it says there's an error because there is a "Place holder" in VTS01, and then says "Can't find VTS_01_......_.mpv"
3. I suppose you refer to the settings I found through the File menu. I've got this marked: Auto determine bias setting, Enable Logging, Create VIF always. It's last version 0.9.1.6 l
4. The script is allright, no errors on it. It works well with any player.
5. As I said, last one I found on this forum: 0.9.1.6 l
Now, with influenza:
I'm not using ECLCce as long as I'm working with CCE 2.70. I wrote the direction to cctspt.exe in "Use direct CCE executable" and the option is marked.
I could try to use killaudio(), but I don't think that's what is making this trouble.
I think what I should do is "Whatever it is, format C"
And, in the end, thanks to both, and thanks to jel for saying :

It's just it's been a long time since I read the forums and knew what was the best way to make you easy to help me.

Well you could give the killaudio() a go on a short asset or maybe use a trim() to encode a range of frames. I had a quite similar problem, which was solved doing this.

No way, it happens again with killaudio().

...how odd ...
not stating the obvious but you do have enough space on the hard drive you are encoding to?

It would be interesting too see the ecl file. Perhaps one of the latest releases of Batch has a bug in it.
The obvious reason is that the CreateMPV flag is OFF. So the vaf is created (it also shows multiple passes in the encoding window), but no mpv. Open the ecl file created by Batch in a test editor and one of the very first lines should be:
vid_out=1
If this reads vid_out=0 then here is the problem.

It's got vid_out=1, thanks for your help.
Here you are: VTS__01_P01.I-TFF.16~9_1.ecl (http://usuarios.lycos.es/almolly/dvd/VTS__01_P01.I-TFF.16~9_1.ecl)
I've got 48'7 GB on my hard disk, so I don't think that's the reason.
Thanks everybody.

The ecl looks good, i put it up side by side to the one i just encoded a video with last night and its just about the same.. it may be a problem vid that needs a higher bitrate than what your giving it. since you cant give it more bitrate... id say for that particular video try a less demanding quantizer matrix setting. for example 'low bitrate' or 'ultra low bitrate'. also try setting your quality setting to something like 16. (the ecl says its at 1). see if this helps for this video.. you can put the settings back to what they were once your done this video if you want.

Thanks, but as long as it doesn't do the main passes of the video, it doesn't matter what kind of matrix I use.
I don't know what's happening, I tried uninstalling everything and reinstalling, and again the same. I think this time I'm going to use something like DVDShrink in order to save all dvds and then format.
I was wondering if it's the result of any kind of protection, like the one Sony has made for audio cd that install you a rootkit (I think that's the word).
Thanks

If you open the ecl file manually in cce, are any errors thrown (most unlikely). If you now check all the settings do they seem correct? Now start the encode manually and see what happens. I wonder if cce is not interpreting the ecl correctly. Gotta be something strange. If the vaf file is created correctly then the source is good. For some reason CCE is not firing up again to start the following passes (and that suggests a setting)

These are the settings on CCE if I open manually the ECL file, I can't find anything incorrect.

No error is shown when I open the .ecl
Thanks

Nothing wrong there. So we have eliminated an ecl error and hard drive space. You say this has suddenly started happening, have you installed any new software? or uninstalled?

is it just this one movie or is it happening to every one you try?
Molly

Any movie, I've tried three by now.
It suddenly occured and nothing was changed, installed or uninstalled.
Maybe just, SW: Battlefron II, but I don't think that changes anything.
I'm using DVD Shrink by the moment to save the five movies I've got on HD by now, and finding how best is to use CCE instead of Shrink. As soon as I save everything I'll format and see if it happens again with a fresh install.
Thanks for everything.

Now I really don't know what to do, I did format C and it happens exactly the same again, with everything just installed.
Maybe are the films: Kingdom Heaven and Hitch. Maybe they've got something that makes me all this mess.
I'll try tomorrow with others dvds I've bought to see if it happens again.
PS: Sorry, I didn't see that the last post was mine.

I know that hitch has arcoss protection, so if not take care of that it will have lots of very small cells. I don't think that CCE will have a problem with that though. I recently backed up kingdom of heaven myself (r2) without any problems.
Could you try an other title you've succesfully backed up before, just to make sure it's actually a general problem or a problem with these specific titles.

I'll try with Star Wars episodes IV to VI, I did the backup a year ago succesfully when I bought theme, I'll try the entire process and give them as a present to my girlfriend ;)
It seems to work with Episode IV, I've got *.mpv for each PGC (you know, the intro in English and in Spanish, and then the movie). It has to be something with the other movies. Maybe it's because there was no way to rip them with DVDDecrypter and I had to use AnyDVD with CloneDVD. But, it seems strange as the only error I've got with CCE is that it only does the *vaf pass.
Thanks
