I'm combining avi files using AVS2AVI with the FCC of "MP42", which is the original compression of the avi files. There are 3 test video files where if you add them together with a calculator, you get a size of 222kb. But if you use AVS2AVI the output .avi file is 382kb. I need to know how to predict the output size based on the original file sizes. Does anyone know how 222kb turns into 382kb?

you are re-encoding you avis. obviously you are using higher bitrate for the new avi that was used for the original(s). that's why the size increases.

Alright, so is there a way of setting a default bitrate with avs?

not directly in AVS, but when you run avs2avi, doesn't it pop the window, where you can select the codec and set parameters for it?
on the other hand, please note that transcoding makes the quality worse in most cases.
