Howdy - -

Last night, I was attempting to transfer video from a Canon ZR to my Win98SE computer using Ulead VideoStudio 7.0 SE. It gave me an error message stating that the source was copyright protected; however, the source is nothing more than footage shot with the self-same camera.

Anybody know what gives?

Did I google right - is it just a miniDV camcorder? If so there is no reason why you should not be able to copy the contents of the tape to your harddrive. Try to capture with WinDV or DVIO to see if Ulead is the problem.

I tried WinDV, but the preview pane was filled with pixelated gobledygook.

Who is the source of the tape?

Perhaps it is not copy-protected. Rather, it was edited using some special DV equipments or programs (e.g. canxpxs editor?)

The tape is just plain vanilla footage shot with the self-same camera on the original tape.
