View Full Version : Problem with Jerky XViD Playback

Hi Guys,

I've recently done a re-format on my system, and since then I've had problems playing back my XViD files (DiVX still work fine), using my ordinary (previously working) setup of Zoom Player and the XViD codec.

In Zoom Player, the playback is jerky and blocky, and I sometimes see green squares at the beginning. It's also impossible to skip forwards and backwards. However, all the files seem to play absolutely perfectly in VLC Player.

I initially thought the files may have been corrupted when I backed them up before the re-format. However, I've just tried downloading some new files (using BitComet) and these still playback incorrectly in Zoom Player.

I have tried two different versions of the XViD codec - the latest being XViD Media Codec 1.0.3 from download.com. I've also tried two different versions of Zoom Player (including the latest). But to no avail.

Please can any of you guys help?!

Thanks,
Steve

@ShinyCDMan: Did you try installing ffdshow or other VFW codec?

I haven't tried either of these yet, no.

Which would you recommend?

Should I uninstall my existing xvid codec first?

ShinyCDMan: Make sure that zoom player is using the xvid decoder to play the file and not some other decoder.
