Local bitrate modifications

Hello,

I've built in first pass a vaf-file which I use to appy local bitrate modifications in order to get rid of the grey areas. When finished, can I start the encoding passes immediately (i. e. are those changes are already applied to the vaf-file), or do I first have to rebuild it (by checking 'create new') before encoding?

I checked again the User's Guide, but what is stated there contradicts my experiences. In chapter 4.2.5 is said

"When you make the changes on VBR bit allocation window, the changes will be written to the video information file immediately."

If this is true, the changes should be seen in Windows Explorer, but date/time stay unchanged for the.vaf-file. Do I miss anything here?
