View Full Version : Two MPC Feature Requests

I have two requests for added features/functionality to Media Player Classic that I think will increase its usefulness.

1) Allow a user created aspect ratio under View, Video Frame, Overide Aspect Ratio. For example, I have a .wmv clip that is a anamorphic encode, but plays it back non anamorphic, and I can't set the AR to 2.35:1, so I have to mess with resizing the video with the number pad. Unless I misunderstand what MPC is doing, shrinking the vertical size with Decrease Height (2 on numpad) lowers the effective vertical resolution rather than maintaining it.

2) Create a provision to discard the bottom 8 horizontal rows of pixels that 1080i .ts files have. 1080i content is stored 1920x1088 (to be mod 16), so the video filters decode 1920x1088, which puts 8 unused lines at the bottom of the screen which change the aspect ratio slightly, and often shows up as a grey bar.

Thanks!

It's been most welcome to see a new version of Media Player Classic, especially as version 6.4.8.5 brings us support for the MP4 container :)

Also nice to see that an MP4 files properties are correctly listed too. Even ones with AR signalling: -

Stereodude: My anamorphic WMV9 in WMV samples/encodes have always been displayed correctly: -

Another request is to fix MPC so VMR 7/9 renderless works correctly with the nVidia PureVideo filters on 1080i material.
