Why is everyone so positive about HC ????

It's an encoder that even generatyes CORRUPTED MPEG streams ????

What do you want for quality if you do have a car that even doens't start ???

HC generates corrupted MPEG streams, in a way yopu notice when playing reverse step by step. You get fully disorted frames at intervals....

So there is some structural bug in it.......

Why talk about quality if even the output is not ok ????

Seems of no sense to me......

Some times mpeg2 files seems corrupted when you step it forward or backward. Frequently are as pixelation. If your refer to that as corrupted, don't worry, it is not really in the stream, but it is a codec isssue.

HC is a good MPEG2Encoder. It produces quality streams! It is in the alpha state! It is free and a hobby of Hank. If you don't like it play with other toys. Let US play with OURs ;)

dvdbackup won't accept playback issues are coming from dvdbackup's playback method and not universal.

What happens if you serve the stream using DGMPGDec and then put Reverse() in the script?

I don't see how this could be an encoder problem. It sounds like an issue with random access in your player application (for example, not handling navigating to a B frame correctly).

You should be pretty sure of yourself before making claims like this; otherwise, you might ruin your reputation on this board.

If people report a valid error I will always try to fix it but for now this one is not in that category.

If you want to view your movies reverse just use another encoder.
BTW, be careful with playing multimedia stuff reverse too much, it's considered as weird satanic behaviour...

So it's not a valid error........

I've already a lot of work, so if it isn't taken seriously, let it go.

I can spend my time in a dfifferent way...

Just noticing my Sony reproducing problems with HC encoded disks (no not the disc, not the player) was enough.....

I simply use an encoder that just does work......

Can you please state whether you are aware of behavior by HC that can account for this issue, or otherwise clarify the matter for us? I don't think dvdbackup is being malicious, and it is quite reasonable for him to bring this issue to light.

Hank, this sounds contradictory. You say it is not a valid error, then you say just use a different encoder.I just wanted to say if he doesn't like the HC encodings he should use another encoder which suits him better.

I don't think dvdbackup is being malicious, and it is quite reasonable for him to bring this issue to light.Reasonable, ofcourse, I just don't like the way he brought this up.

Reasonable, of course, I just don't like the way he brought this up. Yes, and it has since come to light that dvdbackup = apfraats, who is already suspended for rule 4. If confirmed by the admins, account deletion will follow.

I'm more than happy with HC as it is, but out of curiosity, does the error that dvdbackup/apfraats is reporting exist, and if so are there any plans to address it in the near future?

anyone who has read the thread in the DVD-RB section will see dvdbackup has been told how to post a proper bug report. the type of information he needs to give and some suggested tests to run to make sure HC is the sole factor.

if a person is not willing to do all that then they are not serious and no programmer is going to take it as a areal bug. especially when it is just 1 person reporting it and nobody seems to be able to replicate his problem.

Anyone run a Philips Verifier over the HC output? I haven't as I consider it exceptional quality.

And please don't encourage him - he's migrated to digital digest where I had to warn him today! See here (http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?postid=312120#post312120).

I also see where UncasMS closed a thread over at digital digest that
apfraats/dvdbackup started on the same subject as this thread(See Here) (http://forum.digital-digest.com/showthread.php?t=56969) . apfraats friend or alter ego :rolleyes: has the problem...what a knuckle head.
