Playing Nero Digital files in other players

Hi Guys,

I was able to watch Nero Digital files in 3rd party players like jetAudio prior when Nero Burning ROM 6 + Nero Digital was installed. But this is not the case anymore with Nero Burning ROM 7 installed. jetAudio only plays sound and there is no video.

Is this true for everybody?

Hi, just using Nero Recode and default settings. Standard AVC + AAC 5.1 is what I used for both Nero Burning ROM 6 + Nero Digital and Nero Burning ROM + Nero Digital configs.

It´s true for me. The Direct Show Filters are not usuable (they are only usuable in Showtime) and the Audioplugins don´t work in BeSweet.

Thanks for the confirmation JoeBG. If this is the case, I think this has to be corrected i.e. get things back to normal. Why Nero 7 wouldn't let other players e.g. jetAudio to play MP4 files but Nero 6 would?

Install a recent build of ffdshow and your problem will go away. I play Nero 7 encoded mp4 files (AVC/5.1) in Media Player, Meedio, etc...

the best is to get rid of this proprieatary stuff at all, eg use haali mp4 parser + ffdshow or mplayer or videolan or mpc or any other non-evil player

Hi guada, Just very simple human reasons.

- Mainly for idx+sub support and resume playback after exit jetAudio
- More polished GUI than VLC and VLC crashes on me.

Not sure why http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/codecs_and_filters/ffdshow.cfm is labeled "FFDSHOW 2005-10-27", since the latest version listed at the Sourceforge page (http://sourceforge.net/projects/ffdshow) is October 2004?

Because the sourceforge page is amazingly out of date (intentionally) and isn't the standard page anymore. This forum and the ffmpeg mailing list are better resources for ffdshow development; free-codecs, celtic druid, and Faireal (http://ffdshow.faireal.net/) have up-to-date versions.

Often even in the short haul, quite a few use amazingly out of date, inefficient, and/or buggy codecs and interfaces. Especially when they're no longer developed.

Glad I could help.

I was very happy when I came here looking for info on playing Nero encoded files and discovered that development was still ongoing for ffdshow. Of course, that means lots of work for me, as I re-encode all 400+ movies.....
