I was converting an xvid to dvd and was using a guide that recommended directshow be set to 3 in the environment variables. Whenever I increased the setting beyond zero the resulting screen would show computer data in the top left hand screen. The data was current frame, cpu load, input size and output size. If I increased the avi-VFW and avi2(open DML) variables this information was not displayed and the conversion time was less. Is there a setting that I can change that will allow the use of the Directshow multimedia file reader but not put the data I mentioned on the finished product?

@dfor50

Hi!

As suggested by our fake moderator, "Forum Moron", you probably want to have your DirectShow plugin set to 1 higher than the highest of all of your other plugins.

I typically have my "AVI VFW Compatibility reader" set to -1, "DirectShow Multimedia File reader" set to +1, and ALL others set to -0-...

**EDIT** the reference to "Forum Moron" being a fake moderator is no longer pertinent - He/She has now eliminated those references, as moderator "Wilbert" indicated would be done...

@Forum Moron,

I'm sure you will get a message from doom9 soon, but you are not allowed to use that subtitle.

Thank you for your help Wilbert & Forum Moron. I'll give the settings a try.

I tried Wilberts environment settings but got the same result. I have tried to attach a picture of the counters that show up whenever I have directshow as the priority reader.
