Hi all.
I've recently received my Creative Audigy 2 ZS Notebook card, and encountered a very annoying problem.
For some reason, i cannot hear any sound from movies encoded with AC3 soundtrack (Xvid, if it matters).
The weird thing is i've enabled the Hardware AC3 decoding via the Audio Console, and able to play standalone AC3 files via the MediaSource player, but when it comes to movies no software can do the trick - i've tried BSPlayer and MediaSource Player.
Is there anything i'm missing?
Thanks in advance, Adam.

PS.
I haven't installed AC3 Filter as i would like to try hardware decoding first.

* EDIT *
Found the solution - you need to install AC3filter after all, however, you do not use it to decode the AC3 soundtrack.
How it is done?
Under AC3filter configuration check SPDIF as the speakers (under "output").
What it does, according to AC3 manual is:
"'SPDIF' mode means that ac3 stream will be routed to digital out of sound card directly and without any modification. So no one of other settings will work if this checkbox is checked."
In simple words, in seperated the embedded soundtrack from the movie file and send the soundtrack alone to the card for the decoding itself.
Bottom line - Hardware decoding, low CPU usage (about 15% at BSPlayer, i guess it's the video decoding only).
All the best, Adam.

if you want to use those players, i think you will need a direct-show filter that will utilize your hardware for the decoding. this may or may not be available from creative, in the software that came with you card or whatever.
