VirtualDub Error following First Pass

The first few times I used Gorian Knot to convert MPEG2 files to XviD, everything worked fine. For some reason, now about 50% I get a VirtualDub error following the first pass. Here is a screenshot of the error message:

The shell extension I am referring to is the one that show's file information for media files directly within explorer. You can disable this shell extension by typing "regsvr32 /u shmedia.dll" in the run box. No quotes. This will disable the shell media extension.

Having this same problem running AutoGK 2.45 under Vista. Tried searching for Vista on the forums, but didn't really turn up anything related.

Unregistering the dll doesn't seem to work, probably because it doesn't exist on Vista. Also tried turning off my McAffee Antivirus, to no avail. Any other clues?

I'm posting my first comment ever on this board and I hope you get to read and respond to this this even though the thread is old!

I just wanted to let you know that I've tried all things mentioned earlier in this thread, including disabling UAC/defender, as you suggested...

... and sadly I won't work on my Vista either! And I use the latest version of AutoGordianKnot (2.48b). So this seems to be some tough issue with Vista.

Maybe I should mention that I have a payed version of "DivX Converter" on my computer and that works without problems. But before you say I should stay with that program let me just say that I would prefer to use AutoGordianKnot! I'm so thankful that you still develop this program. i would just be great if the problems with Vista could be fixed somehow.

Because some years ago (while still having my old Win2000computer) I always got nice result while using the now discontinued GordianKnot (you were the developer of that one too weren't you?)

So I'm familiar with that program and I always liked the fact that one had the option to manually control the output if one wanted to. And even though AutoGordianKnot is more automated, I like the fact that you've kept the options to manually change things around on the hidden menu! If only it could work on Vista I would love to use your wonderful program! Thanks for all the work you put in to it for us!
