View Full Version : Premiere Pro - Offline Clips

Some months ago I did a project with titles in Premiere Pro. I am currently doing another project and need to use the titles I did in the earlier project. When I open the project, Premiere says that titles/clips are offline and use a red offline background. All titles and clips are still stored on hard drive. Does anyone know what is causing this and how to solve it?

You either deleted or moved the whole project around a bit. Unlike After Effects Premiere is very dumb about finding lost footage - just rightclick the clips in the project window and hit link media - then browse to the exact file and hit "Select".

I am sure I deleted or moved nothing. I still tried your suggestion but Link Media is greyed out. Any other suggestions please?

There are two ways to do it - select your clip and either rightclick or via the Project menu.

I dont know why it should be greyed out if its really just offline.

Hello,
It's exactly what I did but Link Media is greyed out and Unlink Media is available. Exactly the opposite of your example. I can't understand it either. And I don't know how this happened either. As I am aware, I changed nothing.

Is it possible that your data is stored on an external hdrive that now has a different drive letter assigned then when you saved the project?

Yes it is on an external hard drive but the drive letter is the same. Still, with communist suggestion, the Link Media should not be greyed out if this was the case, right?

What happens if you click on "Unlink Media" - is "Link Media" then available?

communist,
I just opened the project to try to unlink media and link it again as you suggested but now link media was available! I don't know what happened. However, thanks. It solved the problem now.
