Having a few problems with this after connecting all the SCART's, I can get
sound from the source signal but no picture? any suggestions? :(It sounds as though you are connecting from your DVD players "TV OUT" scart to your Telewest boxes "VIDEO IN" scart.... If so, are you sure your Telewest boxes "VIDEO IN" scart can accept an RGB/composite signal?

You'll have to look in your Telewest boxes "Menu" system to see what options are allowed

By-the-way, do you know if your TV is RGB capable. And have made sure your scart leads are "fully wired"?

Hi, thanks for the reply. I have done a few searches on the net regarding
this and Im wiring it up as it should be, so don't understand why I can get
audio without video, surely that means it's receiving something???
Telewest themselves have been completely unhelpful & just say that they
don't support any device getting connected.

you can configure the telewest box to give a composite or an RGB output,
It's set for RGB for the scart's, have yet to try composite connections.

I shall keep trying tho! :(

Have you checked your scart leads for bad connection?

Try testing your leads by "directly" connecting your DVD player and then your TeleWest box to your TV's "Scart 1"

Don't forget to set both your DVD player and your TeleWest box to output RGB signals.... As this setting also outputs an composite signal.

Right, I have bought brand new scart's, exchanged the recorder for another
one, and still all I get is audio from the channel Im watching via telewest!

Can you please confirm how you are connecting up your devices to the TV. Is it: -

TeleWest box to ALBA DVD to TV?

Or is it: -

ALBA DVD to TeleWest box to TV?

And did you do as I suggested before and checked to see if you can get sound and pictures by by "directly" connecting your DVD player and then your TeleWest box to your TV's "Scart 1"

This works fine but I only can get the five channels from the rf input seeing as there is no cable signal.

setup is as follows:
Scart cable from Telewest to Scart AV1 on TV
Scart cable from DVD Recorder Scart 1 to TV Scart AV2
Scart from DVD Scart2 to Telewest Scart VCR

This should work!!!

Try connecting in the following order: -

DVD Recorder (Scart 1) to Telewest (Scart 2). TeleWest (Scart 1) to TV (Scart 1).

The Telewest boxes Scart 2 input should be capable of inputing and outputting audio/video signals (same as a Sky or NTL DigiBox) ie: "daisy-chain" the signals. Thus freeing your TeleWest Scart 2 and TV Scart 2 inputs for other devices!

Provided your scart leads are of the "fully wired" type, an triggering signal will be sent via pin 8, every-time your DVD recorder or TeleWest box is powered on/off.

Plus your the DVD recorder (and maybe your TeleWest box) should offer manual selection over it's inputs if required ;)

Hopefully your DVD recorder will be able to pass RGB images thru the Telewest box and onto your TV... so you can enjoy watching your DVD's in full RGB quality, instead of the poorer looking composite quality.

My (old) SkyDigital and OnDigital set-top boxes would allow this!

Don't be a stranger to the forum.... or I'll send the boys round to disconnect all your gear ;)
