dvd2svcd wont rip

hi,
have just upgraded pc to athlon 64 3000 with win xp pro sp2

just downloaded dvd2svcd v 1.2.3 b1 and aspi drivers for xp but it wont analyze the video. The old version did because i'm trying it out on a dvd that i ripped some time ago...

power dvd also plays the dvd, any suggestions...

ok, so put disc into other dvd drive and it works? well the disc i ripped beforw works, but another disc, a disney dvd won't is there any other software I need or am i missing something obvious??
