Used DD to read my Gankutsuou(Count of Monte Cristo) anime DVD that came out tuesday. It has run time of 1hr 40mins and was over 7gig. But for the first time ever DVD Shrink is useless. It shows about 20 empty VTS files and main feature of just 20mins. It only showing 1/6 content. Not sure what to do, I redid it in DD and on that end i think its fine. Unless this is some new form of CP.

Hi!

If by "DD" you mean DVD Decrypter:

1) What version did you use?

2) What settings did you use?

3) Did DVD Decrypter generate any error messages? If so, what were they?

4) Are you able to successfully play the ripped hard drive version (as "DVD", NOT simply individual .VOBs), using a software DVD player, such as WinDVD or PowerDVD?

It might also help if you can post the DVD Structure. Another words, take a screenshot of the directory in Windows Explorer using the "Details" view mode. Sheer curiousity on my part mostly for this but..

Using the lastest version of DD and shrink. I can play it as dvd on pc. But shrink will only recongize the extras and not the main movie. This is first time shrink failed me. If anyone is able to backup their copy of this dvd let me know what you did.

Are you using DVD Shrink to do a "Full backup" or in the "Re-author" mode? (Since you say the hard drive version created by DVD Decrypter plays properly, a "Full Backup" by DVD Shrink should be successful).

I'm guessing that the main movie is spread over many TITLES, all of which are probably identified as "Extras" by DVD Shrink.

As suggested by "Axed", it might also help if you can post the DVD Structure.

have you checked the video assets you ripped to see if they're corrupt?

i've seen v2 and v3 (region 1) of this series, and they all had problems ripping - they either crash DVDdecrypter outright, or rip with massive francis bacon style corruption. even the subs had corruption in them (which is maddening because that's the only source of subs we have! very very poor form, geneon!. you could at least trust people who've actually licensed the content and have permission to use it).

looking at the disc surface shows ugliness under the surface, so it may be a replication issue, but it's just too convenient that it's only the gankutsuou discs that have problems.
