hi !

I have a lot of divx with ADPCM sound.

Will I be able to play them on a standalone ?

And , by the way, why can't I capture divx
with mp3 on the fly?

I use flyDS tv recorder , with lame acm installed
but it seems it can't record mp3 sound .

All I can do is use the crappy mp3 default codec
or pcm or adpcm...

Do standalone players support adpcm ? ...This is a very open question... Some players might... some players might not!

All I can do is use the crappy mp3 default codec
or pcm or adpcm...You could try installing and using Radium's MP3 Codec (http://82.2.167.237/Uploaded_Files/Doom9_Forum_files/RadiumMP3_(v1.263).zip) instead ;)

ADPCM... yikes. try transcode it to a more efficient and better sounding lossy format*. ADPCM isn't psychoacoustic, so it's not going to kill the sound when you transcode it. give seemore's tip a try (but we in no way condone the use of hacked codecs :))

[edit]

* note, when i say "better sounding", it wont make the ADPCM sound any better. just thought i should avoid confusion.

i don't know of any standalones that would even think of playing ADPCM. sure something out there might play it, but it beats me as to why an equipment manufacturer would include a feature such as that.
