Suppose I'm making a backup of a film and I only choose the film to backup as opposed to the whole disc which could include some extras like theatrical trailers and interviews with the cast. If I choose only the "Main VTS" according to DoItFast4U and press the "Do It" button, it goes through the motions and demuxes, at the end in the Status window it states the Max Bitrate to be like 9000 kBit/s and the Average to be 1600. The odd thing is I set the bitrate for the Extras to be set at 1650 and DoItFast4U sets the same bitrate for the main film.

It seems as though it won't differentiate between "Main" and "Extras". I have even tried running it through ScenAid and before I hit the disc icon to start it I check the bitrate ScenAid gives me and it is the same number as given in DoItFast4U.

Does anyone know whats going on here? I'm a bit lost. Thanks.

The Big3 is designed for a full backup not just the main feature. By selecting just the main movie to process, you are effectively saying 'keep the extras as they are now'; which obviously affects the bitrate available.

I forgot to mention that I even tried choosing one of the numerous extras still resulting in the bitrate issue.

edit: The original movie is about 5.7 GB in size so if I'm only reducing 1.4 GB or so I should have a bitrate of at least 4000, I'm only getting 1700 or so.

hi majesty,

what you are not quite grasping is the concept that zeul has explaind to you.

if you DESELECT a VTS in dif4u, in will copy it 1:1 (as is) into your final VIDEO_TS folder ... it will NOT blank/remove it.

however if you deselect a PGC within a VTS in dif4u, it will be blanked/removed.

by deselecting all your extras in dif4u, they are all being copied into your final folder as is, and therefore there is very little space left for your main movie.

so ... you have a few choices.

1. select ALL extras to be processed by dif4u, then deselct the unwanted extras in scenaid (make sure you have use scenaid bitrates selected in options not dif4u bitrates)

2. preprocess your source with a 3rd party application (not usually recommended depending on the tool and user competency)

3. make a FULL back-up of your dvd using the big 3 tools. i guarantee you that you will be impressed by the results.
