When burning DVDs in DVD Decrypter, the buffer shows as being empty (thats the Buffer on the left of screen, not the Device Buffer).

It never used to. Device Buffer jumps about between 85-100% as long as I dont do anything else on the machine. I use CMC MAG AE1 (Titanium) disks at present, previously GO5's. All rated at 8X, but it now struggles to burn at 4X.

Only recently started doing this, drives all in DMA mode etc.

Any clues?

It can't read the data off your hdd quick enough.

Extremely fragmented discs, or on the verge of disc failure (retry works) maybe...?

Thanks both.

Time to have a look at the drives, shouldnt be an about to fail problem (I hope!). Will try defrag and clean first, then have a look at if there is anything else slowing the drives down.

I have the DVD burner and 160GB drive on one IDE channel (DVD is UDMA2, HD is UDMA5).

I also have a 250GB SATA drive which is showing UDMA5. Machine a 1Gig memory and a P4.

And as I said, it was fairly OK before.

cheers.
