encoding nerodigital in vision express

i have read before that the only way to encode nerodigital is to use recode, which of course would be a complete annoyance since you can only use dvd as source. until i noticed that vision express has the option to "export movie" to various formats including, apparently, nerodigital.

so i have tried to encode my avs files using this, but vision express crashes a lot. when i did get it to complete, it came out all black. so i tried using link2 and "wraping" avs into avi. no luck yet. maybe because i am 'serving the audio' instead of puting raw pcm.

any ideas to get it to work? or should i just dump it for x264 : )

Well, that's strange things you are saying about nero recode. Maybe you have an older version. I use this version of nero recode CE: NeroDigital_RC-2.2.6.17b.exe. And it has the option of 'Recode dvds AND VIDEOS'. I understand you want to recode avi? No problem, nero can do that. You don't have to use avs, but I recomend you do manual cropping and resizing because Nero sometimes doesn't quite get it right.

this is from doom9's guide. maybe info is out-dated or maybe i mistook it.

@Daodan: thank you for your response. i tried and you are right, recode will do what i am needing. it even opened my avs file. much easier than using vision express and i can even add chapters.

Yep, probably the guide is updated. I tried now with avs and it handles it very well too. That's nice because what nero lacks is some more advanced stuff like IVTC and other things you can put in avs script.
