Welcome to the Forum:
Your post confused me, too, a little. :) You say that you have "4.7 dvd-r blanks", which are single layer discs, then you ask a question on burning to dual layer discs. Which is it that you have, single layer, or dual layer?
You can burn with DVDDecrypter from Shrink by selecting the proper option from the "Select Backup Target" dropdown menu when you get to that point in the configuration of your backup.
Check the Shrink guide from the Guides section here at Doom9s Forum (under DVD Backup > DVD/miniDVD). You can also access some very good Shrink guides at dvdshrink.info. Here's a link to the DVD Shrink Main Movie Only (http://dvdshrink.info/re-author-v3beta5.php) guide which is easy to set up and follow. Get stuck, post back.

Hi!
You might also glean some meaningful insight at the official DVD Shrink site at:

do i have to split the file and make two discs or what
If that's what you want, you'll have to do it in Reauthor mode. By default DVD Shrink fits a full dual-layer original onto a DVD5 (single layer) disk.

hi chris643pa,
to clarify the excellent responses you have received from all concerned, you have a number of choices avaliable to you when processing a dual layer dvd to "4.7 dvd-r blanks".
1) use dvd shrink in "full disc" mode to shrink the original dvd so that it will fit your blank media
DVD Shrink 3.2 guide (http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/dvdshrink31-main.htm)
2) use dvd shrink in "re-author" mode for main movie only without menus - see the guide/link provided by ammck55
3) split the original so that it spans over 2 discs - personally i would use the freeware version of dvd fab or pgc_edit (see the ifo/vob editors forum)
4) use commercially avaliable transcoding tools such as clone dvd etc
or investigate the process of using an software EN-coder based program to re-encode your video so that it will fit onto a blank single layer disc. for beginners i would recommend using dvd rebuilder (please see the sub-forum for details)

ps - there are a whole world of other possibilities but i believe that these options would be the most easy in regards to a beginner achieving acceptable results.
good luck!

Thanks are always appreciated. You can take the process one step further by dropping back in and giving us a summary of how you overcame your initial difficulties-- "closing the trouble ticket" as ole Ddogg used to call it. Imagine some noob in the future that comes across a thread that describes his problem, but the original poster never came back and described how he found his solution, or which of the proffered approaches did the trick. I've been able to solve most of my own issues by using the search function, which is of course simplified by good, tight titles that help you to quickly focus on threads that speak directly to your problem. A thread, or "trouble ticket", if you will, that comes full circle imparts so much more confidence when trying moves you're probably making for the very first time.
Good titles, good input, good help,....good deal!
Good luck!

well man, if u want burn dual layer dvd , u need dual layer disc.
so u can not burn a dual layer dvd to a 4.7gig dvd.
if u buy a dual layer dvd, u must have a software to burn dl.and a burner too.most of burners now are dl. dont u have this on nero 6?
decrypter and shrink are nice software for newbie.
go on mrbass.org, and download dvd4.3 u will need to crack arcos protections , u can try dvd fab.
to ad sub try subtitle workshop, u can download sub on the net.
for chapter extract use chapterXtractor.
try dvd lab pro as reauthor.

What method(s) did you use to "get all the way through the decoding and the other stuff?"

Since it is your first time try using rewritables - just in case. Although I cannot answer specifically I would suggest reinstalling both shrink and decrypter. And a reboot after.
I assume you used DVDshrink option to creat ISO and then burn with DVDecrypter. if so the ISO should still be on your Hardrive and you could use DVDecypter in ISO write mode to try again.
