Hi. i'm using windows xp pro and have an hp printer, and i'm trying to print a document in french from microsoft office 2003 word.

the text shows fine in word, and the only difference in the language are the accents but when i press print it prints everything apart from the french.

i'm guessing the printer doesn't understand the characters. how do i teach it french??

I may have this backwards, but make sure the French stuff is in a TrueType font.

Interesting. I might be totally talking out my arse on this but you might DL and try openoffice 2.0. It opens older word documents better and more consistantly than current versions of word itself. Perhaps it will work. Or mayby save the doc as an RTF or TXT file and open it in notepad or wordpad.
