It's a combined symbol meaning the burner can use both +R and -R media.

Here's a short list of some reading material that you might want to browse through at your leisure; everytime you scan through one of these doc's, you'll learn something--whether you realize it at the time, or not. Understanding terminology is one of the keys to asking a good question, you'll receive far better, and speedier, support if you can point right at your problem.

That said, I'm looking forward to when you have an actual problem to solve. We've been dancing back and forth for a week, now, and I sense that you're reluctant to dive in. Don't be. Get some software, get a guide and go to work! When you get stuck, or run across problems in getting your software set up (should it require much "finessing"), post on that specific problem and you'll get help. You can also help yourself out a bunch by searching the archive for members that have confronted your circumstances; here in Newbies we hardly ever see an issue that hasn't already been solved, but that's what Noobs is for: to get you up and running and teach you how to access the forum's tools, and for that matter, the entire range of tools you have at your fingertips when you log on to the Internet.
