Hi!

1) Burn speed is also determined by the media you are using

2) Most burners are initially set to burn at 2X. If that's the case with yours, you might want to go to you burner's manufacturer's website to see if there is an official firmware update available. Such an update will, among other things, allow you to burn at a higher speed (provided your media can be burned at a higher speed)

Post here the NERO log of one of your DVD burns. It will contain information that will help determine the brand and model number of your burner.

You can find the NERO log in "NERO\NeroHistory.log" (Usually on your C:\ drive in "Program Files").

Is your burner an external or internal one?

are you using nero express? When I got my new burner I changed it the bundled nero express 6 - max speed was 2.4 - I switched it back to my nero rom 5.5 and all is well.
