Hello,

I am new to the world of DVD ripping. I have some very basic questions. I would like convert a DVD to an AVI file format so I load it on my Arcos AV420 Media Player.

I played around with DVD Decrypter(3.2.2.0). Not sure what mode to use. After the file(s) are generated, what do I need to generate a single AVI file?

Arcos AV420 uses AVI file.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thank's

Paul

Welcome to the Forum, Pauls:

The spec's say the the Archos 400 series will recognize the MPEG-4 format. Here's some recent discussion on DVD to AVI (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=101723) that might interest you. Both of the suggestions in that thread deal with DVD's compressed to DivX/XviD. These codecs are highly compressible which is very important if your storage space is limited.

Additionally, you could look into what other Archos device owners are using and the results they're receiving; Google up an Archos user's forum and dig in. Good luck!
