LOL, i know it is a backward step, but i have a couple of movie DVD's, backed up using DVD Shrink (so i guess any protection has been removed ?), that i would like to PLAY and record onto VHS video cassettes for my MUM, she hasnt got a DVD Player (i'm too tight to buy her one LOL).

Assuming i connect the SCART leads up correctly, is it going to work ?, or does any forsee any problems i am likely to encounter.

I assume it will be a simple case ?, of connecting the DVD player to the VHS Recorder and then the VHS recorder to the TV !!!!!

Is it as easy as it looks ??? any comments or opinions would be very welcome

It worked for me.
THat sounds very promising friend, thanks.

I was thinking that there might be a bit of protection in there somewhere, i suppose on original DVD's there would be some protection to dis-courage this happening.

I had not shrinked original DVDs, but DVDs with DV Stuff.

There could be a Macrosvision protection, but iirc Shrink removes it.

DVD players start at $30.

Macrovision protection usually prevents DVD to VHS copying (which screwed me on my first DVD player my TV had one video input and you can't even watch a DVD through a VCR).

Rip DVD to PC and use TV-out on the video card to record to VHS.

DVDShrink removes Macrovision protection by default, despite you disable it in the preferences, "Output Files" tab, "Remove macrovision protection". But I guess you found that yourself in the meantime...

There's hardware available, too - so-called video enhancers - that remove the Macrovision signal and reinforce the video signal. You plug these boxes between the VCR and the DVD player using SCART cables.
