I created a custom chapters.txt file with MeGUI for my tvrip (i simply put chapters at commercial points). Encoding was a breeze and it worked great, I muxed both audio/video mp4's together with the chapters file which of course gave me a single mp4. Everything muxed correctly but when I play it back with VLC or any other media player that supports chapters, it doesn't work. The file is just played back as if there are no chapters. Am I doing something wrong?

VLC does not support chapters.

You need a splitter for the chapters. Try Haalis Media Splitter (http://haali.cs.msu.ru/mkv/) with mp4 support and a Direct Show Player like Media Player Classic or Zoom Player.

Thanks for the tip, it does work with MPC. I was wondering why VLC doesn't supports chapters with MP4, yet it works fine with KVCD's I run it with.
