I have to admit, I love AutoGK and use it a lot. WHat a buzz. But I just found this on the web:

http://fever.link.free.fr/SUPER.html

and am surprised in a way that it doesn't seem to rate a single mention anywhere on Doom9. Looks like a hot competitor for AutoGK. Before I dive into trying it out (just installed it) I'm actualy puzzled as to the contrast between it's claims and apparent unheard-of-ness.

Anyone shed any light on that?

Hey,
I found this program early july 2005 and started using it, since then,
they have released several updates. I use it mainly to encode into
MP4[mpeg4, aac] and 3gp[h263, amr] and get amazing results.
Last week I have posted a question on this board about how to encode
into MP4[h264, aac] and play the result on QT. (x264 cant do it). I got
some replies but were not really very usefull. So I emailed directly the authors of SUPER.
They answered that a new update is ready to be released very soon,
containing a great number of features, and where H264 renderd files are playable on QT.

super(c) is also mentionned here
http://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=SUPER_1

I also heard that many are using it to convert their files to play on iPod

Me aswell.

Might be because it is just:
(...) a simple GUI, the quality of the rendered files or the played files DOES NOT depend on SUPER ®. The speed, rendered quality or the variety of the codec selection are the result of the great work achieved by the respective authors of ffmpeg, mencoder, mplayer, x264, ffmpeg2theora, libavcodec library & the btheora/vorbis RealProducer's plugIn. The whole credit SHOULD go to these authors for their great ongoing projects.
All tools people already use here in combination with other GUIs / tools - still this looks very good.
Gonna check it out asap :)

Thanks for the link.

If this is going to be discussion about "SUPER" it doesn't quite belong here. Moved.

I was actually curious about a compariosn between SUPER and AutoGK. AutoGK is great, no doubt about it. It's wildly popular and well known and got farums etc. SUPER I've never heard of, and hence a little suspsicous about naturally, and wondering what AutoGK users thought about it. That's all,

Well, AutoGK is also just a GUI for other tools. I don't hink "just" does either of them justice. They bring the power of these wonderful tools into the hands of ordinary people who haven't the expertise or time to work with them directly and need a point and shoot technology.

Yes I know - hence why I wrote it in italic. Anyway having tested it on several files encoded to 3gp/mp4 for use on Sony K750/W800 all I can say - wow, very easy to use and except the devices choking on too high bitrates / res. (which is to be expected) they worked just fine. Though when you pick one of the profiles that wont happen too quick as it will only allow compatible combinations.

Nope. I use badongo now because it has a bigger file capacity.
