hi,
I use the Main Concept Encoding Engine to author the DVD, and use the NeroAPI to burn the DVD. The disk is DVD -R. It can be played in any DVD-Rom, but my DVD Player 'toshiba sd2109', which is compatable with DVD-R, reports "disk error".
I don't know why the DVD can be played in the DVD-Rom but not in the DVD Player. Can anyone tell what kind reason it might be, or where can I find relative materials about those problem?
Thanks

1) Your Toshiba may play DVD-Rs, but it may not recognize the particular brand of DVD-R you've burned. To determine the capabilities/limitations of your specific brand and model of standalone DVD player, as well as media compatibility, go to:
www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers
2) If you've burned at anything greater than 4X, try burning at a lower speed (4X or 2X)

Thanks for your reply.
I try to burn the DVD by 4x, but the player still couldn't read it.
I have several experiments:
(1) When I use Sony DVD Archtect to burn the DVD, my DVD player can read the DVD.
That means my DVD player can read the DVD -R disk.
(2) When I use the Nero Burning to burn the DVD files generated by Sony DVD Archtect, the player can play the DVD.
(3) When I use the Nero Burning to burn the DVD files generated by my program with Main concept encoding engine, the player can also play the DVD.
So I wonder whether I have problem with the Nero API. But all the burned DVD can be played well in computer.

Although you may ultimately prove to be correct (about the NERO API), before jumping to any conclusions, I'd suggest you take the problematic burned DVD(s) to an electronics store and try playing them on several different brands of standalone DVD players...

Did you even bother looking up your player at Videohelp.com, as setarip_old suggested? If you had done it, you would have learned that many people have problems viewing burned DVD+/-R on the Toshibas. You may have also learned how to burn yours so that they will play. In general, Toshibas suck, as they are real picky about what they'll play:
