Guys,
I'm ripping my DVD collection to my HTPC harddisk, I'm trying to keep each movie in between 1.5gb & 2gb. I do keep the AC3 (if I'm keeping DTS then I'll make the file size bigger). Everythings autopilot except I force 720.
Should I also be using the Sharp Matrix??
Thanks

usually I think its stated that sharp matrix delivers better quality (more detail) but makes the video less "compressible", meaning that your output file will be bigger. IMHO if forcing hidden .sharpmatrix option gives you >2gb video, I would maintain this option but let autogk choose resolution for you. I dont think theres such a difference between 720 and, say, 608.

If I am not mistaken, AGK will automatically force sharp matrix if a fixed size is specified, check the logs.
+1 for letting AGK use it's internal resizing feature, it will use sharp matrix for a minimum size of 608 up to 720 (maybe less than 608 if aspect ratio is different but 608 minimum is sure).
