Hello,
How can I shrink a mpeg1 file slightly so I can fit it on a cd-r?
I've got a file of 800mb,whichis just the movie, no menus etc.
I'm trying to burn the file with nero vcd burner, but I can't because nero won't let me, it saids "I've got only 720mb on the cd-r.
Please sugest how I can solve this problem?

Hi!

If you convert your "plain vanilla" MPEG-1 file to MPEG-1 Video CD ("VCD"), you'll be able to burn up to 80 minutes (perhaps more) of your video to one 700Mb CD (VCDs are based on running time and not filesize, similar to audio CDs).

If it's still a bit too long, consider cutting off the end credits as well...

The mpeg1 file was encoded with tmpgenc. Is there another way of shrinking the mpeg1 file so without cutting out anything from the movie only?

You can burn perfectly 800 MB mpeg file in a 80 min CD (700 MB).
With Nero burning rom just select VCD as you new project and in configuration (file, preferences) set the red and yellow marks to 803 and 800 respectively.
If still it doesn't fit, enable overburn in miscelaneous (or advanced) options.
