Congrats, been waiting for an update on this amazing program.
Should a user uninstall his\her older version? or is it ok to install on top of the older one?

Ok,ive installed it (overwrite the existing one),works with no problem...just one noticble change, when converting avi to DVD and the source is full screen, usualy i had to check the 16:9 encoded as 4:3,with the new version it gave a stretched result,so i used 4:3 no borders and it did good.

Suport for 2.70 is on the back burner at the moment, however it does 1 pass OPV encoding using the D2SRoBa pluggin which get installed when you install the program, infact there is a new version of D2SRoBa included, ver 3.80.

X-guy.
Take a look at the Problems Specific to AVI sticky.
It explains the new AR options.

Great timing, just looked in here after a very long time not having use for this great tool. Now I got an HDTV AVI file which I thought I should convert down to DVD resolution and make a DVD of so I can watch it on my plasma TV. Maybe the old version would have worked well, but I will try immediately with this version :)

It went half-well, so to say...
I rerun my AVI to DVD conversion and the same thing happens both times.
I have a pretty old CCE (2.67) trial with EclCCE. When DVD2SVCD should start the video encoding EclCCE/CCE is launched. Then a "beep"/"thud" is heard, the sound indicating that you are clicking/typing somewhere where you can't. CCE just sits there waiting. If I click on the Encode button the .mpv file is created and then CCE just sits there again. I can exit it, but then DVD2SVCD doesn't continue. Trying Restore makes no difference, it reencodes the video again and then waits.

Have you read this thread about CCE 2.67.

Good luck PB

Thanks for the pointer. I remember that I had fixed these kind of things when I last used the program a year or so ago, but when I now check I run into the "CCE Template is grayed out" problem mentioned in that thread. I have looked into the http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=67057 thread, but sofar can't make it to work.
Since the new version of DVD2SVCD anyway didn't work for me with EclCCE/CCE I made the conversion with a transcoder instead, it wasn't an important TV program. It was just that I found subs for it and wanted to test out how it would look, it's aired in SDTV in a few days anyway.
But my problem that DVD2SVCD stops after CCE has encoded the video is of course troublesome if I get an AVI I really want to convert. I guess it might be a problem with going through EclCCE. Is there any other version of CCE that works with DVD2SVCD, that doesn't have to use EclCCE (and preferably doesn't have a "Custom Template Problem" or other drawbacks?

Cce 2.50 ;)

...if you want "Antique Look" on the result...?
ChickenMan

Encoding engine of 2.50 is same as in 2.67 so end result will be the same, been using it for years with perfect results. I've also been using 2.67 of late (I now have an AMD X2 duel core) and do not have any of the issues your having doing HDTV clips to DVDR. Are you using the latest DGDecoder.dll ?

It's a long time since I used this tool, so I'm very rusty on the details. Right now I just downloaded and installed the new bundle of DVD2SVCD and installed it, it doesn't work with my installed CCE but it works if I change to another encoder/transcoder. The CCE installed worked with the previous version of DVD2SVCD and works right now with DVDRebuilder (last sponsor version).
Where do I get DGDecoder.dll and what is it for? ;)
ChickenMan
24th October 2005, 07:48
DVD2SVCD works with cce v 2.50 and 2.67, not with latest 2.70. To use 2.67 you need to use eclcce with it, for 2.50 you dont.
DVD2SVCD use to use AVI2DVD.exe and MPEG2Dec.dll, now it uses the files from the DGIndex bundle, being DGIndex.exe and DGDecoder.dll. Check in your DGIndex and Frameserver tabs.

Thanks, I see at the frameserver tab that DGDecode.dll is used and DGIndex is mentioned though I can't see if it is used (and can't find a DGIndex tab). I guess the latest version(s) came with the bundle, since the bundle is so new, but I will check that. The dll MPEG2Dec3dg.dll is in the AviSynth 2.5\plugins directory, but I don't know more about that.
Also, is it the DVD2SVCD program that creates the .PNG files with the subtitles or is it Avisynth Subtitler.dll? I will go to the Avisynth site and check myself if it mentions that plugin, but I thought I should ask anyway. I want to see if it's possible to do anything about that <i> not recognized for italic.
And I will check further if I can get custom templates to work with my 2.67.23...

I didn't seem to be able to get 2.67 to work for me with the new version of DVD2SVCD, so I reverted to CCE 2.50.01. Made a minuscle test run which seemed OK, then I wanted to reconfigure DVD Rebuilder so it should use CCE 2.50 instead of EclCCE/CCE 2.67. But the configure program for DVD Rebuilder says CCE 2.50 needs EclCCE...?
But here it's said that CCE 2.50 doesn't need EclCCE, and from what I can read EclCCE doesn't support CCCE 2.50?
ChickenMan
25th October 2005, 09:57
Latest eclcce most definitely supports 2.50, early versions did not however. I have been using cce 2.50 with both DVD2SVCD & ReBuilder for quite some time now (RB via eclcce and D2S not) and recently changed to 2.67 for both and via eclcce.
j_olson
25th October 2005, 11:57
OK, thanks. I tried the DVD-RB config program and it installed EclCCE for 2.50, so hopefully it works. Since you have used it like that for quite some time it ought to... :)
Never got 2.67 to work with new DVD2SVCD, but from what I understand the encoding engine is the same in both versions. I'm not encoding anything "for keeps" anyway, so even if I want to watch good quality an extra percent of quality or one or more extra options isn't so important.

To all contributors to this fantastic new bundle: thank you guys. You did a great job. I already used it for avi2dvd and it looks very good.
Keep ripping! :p :p :p

Is the encoding engine really the same?
From CCE's history page this stands out for me;
Version 2.66.01.01 Friday, September 13, 2002
Changes
- Picture quality has improved.

I use CCE 2.67.023 w/ DVD-RB v0.96 with Eccle. I can't seem to make it work with with the new DVD2SVCD 1.2.3. It just brings up the CCE interface and sits there forever??? Anybody got any ideas? Appreciate all your help.

Hotdiggidy!!!
I somehow stumbled into a solution of the "Greyed Out CCE Template"
problem! Here is what I did:
I looked inside the EclCCE.ini file in the directory where my CCE was
installed and it had this line:
CCE=ccespt.exe
Anyways, I have a dual boot system with my WinXP on the 'E:' drive
(which is actually the third partition, logical not primary). Somehow I
had the urge to include the whole path, drive, directory and folder to
that line, which I did as such:
CCE=E:\Program Files\Custom Technology\CCE SP Trial Version\ccespt.exe
This did the trick and now the CCE Template section is Ungreyed and accessible.
Now my DVD2SVCD 1.2.3 setup is running smoothly and CCE 2.67.0.23
is on automatic pilot and does not stare at me anymore. LOL! Rock!
All I could surmise is that there is something in the programming which
assumes that CCE is installed in the "C:" drive (which is not the case
all the time).
Eureka, Hallelujah! All this Computerranawhahwhahwhahfuzzerreeze (the term
I want to use when dealing with computer stuff) can be frustrating but at the
same time exhilirating when solve an irritating problem.
Hope this helps.
