 I am looking for a program that will EASILY allow me to edit shows that I record on my Liteon LVW5005 DVD recorder. I want to cut out commercials and trim the beginning and end points of the shows. I usually set up to record a minute before and after so that I don't miss anything. I may record up to 6 shows in slp mode. The recorder makes each show a new title with chapter marks every 5 minutes. I don't care about losing the chapter marks. But would like to keep each show separate.

The files are in VOB format. Do I have to convert them first, edit, and then convert back? or is there a program that will alllow me to do this all at once?

Doesn't the DVD recorder itself support editing?

Hi!

You can use "TMPGEnc DVD Author" (Different than "TMPGEnc" and "TMPGEncPlus"). You can obtain a FULLY functional free 30 day trial version of this commercial program at:

www.pegasys-inc.com/en/product/tda.html

Vidomi can be used as an effective editing tool - the few times I've created a DVD from a captured TV show I saved the program sections between the commercials with Vidomi, then dropped those sections into Roxio DVD Builder which created new chapters at each commercial break, as well as a menu with thumbnails to select each chapter just like a commercial DVD. The whole process, not counting burning, took less than five minutes.

I used TMPGEnc DVD Author . It worked great. I could trim beginning and end, cut out commercials, and make menus for the shows.

Thanks!!!

I'm shocked, shocked I tell ya, that someone would not only use good advice, but come back to report on it! Good work on closing your "trouble ticket", jfako0.

One last question; were you able to send the edited file to the burner and view it on your standalone? I assume so, but.....

Yes. I could create an ISO and/or burn the DVD with no problem. The only problem I did have is when I ran out of Hard disk space and had to delete som old files. I was using a 60 G drive. I have 2 160's that I mounted in a pull out trays and can switch, but haven't set them up yet. I like to copy the recorded DVD's onto the hard drive into directories/folders called "DVD Working 1", "DVD Working 2", etc so that I can put different shows from several DVD's onto one dvd and it seems to work alot easier for me.

Thanks again for a winner
