Ok I am new to dvd vonversion and authoring so i have a few questions

1. exactley how big would a dvd converted to a uncompressed avi be?
2. also how would i extract the audio from that dvd

I am planning on taking all three evil Dead movies and attempt to combine them into one movie making some edits here and there, and then putting it on dvd

Instead of using uncompressed avi you might want to use a lossless codec like huffyuv or MJPEG.

1) I don't know but taking a one minute sample and then multiplying the size by the number of mins in the film is a good start.
2) DGIndex is one option for extracting audio from VOBs.

Hi!

If you are saying that you have three DVDs that you want to compress to fit on one DVD, there's no reason to convert to .AVI format.

You can use DVD Shrink in "Re-author" mode to do this DIRECTLY from the three DVDs...

You can use the resulting avis with CCE, TMPGEnc, etc.

@setarip_old, he said he wants to do some editing, so I assume(d) that means cut/change scenes, add effects etc.

dantexaiver, I have to say that everything you've asked for has been covered many times on this forum, which is why the rules state to search and read thoroughly before asking a question. You've also neglected to use a descriptive title in your first post.

At one point in time, most of us were in no-man's land. A spin through the Basics might give you a better clue. Click on the "Doom9" link at the top of this page, then click on the "Basics" link in the left navbar of the page that comes up.

You've been given good advice, already, but sometimes verbal directions without a roadmap are hard to follow. Dig around and start building your own "map"; you can post back here in this thread, or, begin a new thread with a descriptive title after you get your thoughts organized a bit better. You can fix this one by clicking on the "Edit" link in your first post, editing the title, then saving the changes.

The best advice I could give you is, read....read....read. Magic bullets are hard to find. :)
