Fungii on a VHS tape, can I still capture it?

A cousin of mine has lent me the original tape where her 15th birthday was filmed on. The tape is in a lousy condition, with fungii on the sides of the film and on the inside of the film itself. Is there any way to clean the tape so that it can be captured?

I'll mail the people on that site and ask them how much would it cost to remove the fungii if possible at all. Thanks for the heads-up :).
