can H.264 encode movie for poctketpc?and play on pocketpc
i had a try ,but i found the movie encoded by H.264 played not very well!
the Fps must <12 Fps ,otherwise , it's cannot be played on PocketPC!
It's terrible ! who can tell me how can PocketPC play the movie encoded by H.264 ,and the Fps >12 Fps ?

Use a smaller resolution :)

at 12FPS, 320x240, my 400Mhz PocketPC had a 17.5% playback speed.
xvid delivered between 280 and 420% playback speed.
PocketPC is not optimized yet for h264 playback (using TCPMP).

Use a smaller resolution :)
it is successful at 12 fps 200Bbps 320×240 !
but some movie contain fast motions, 12 Fps is not enough !
how can i enhance Fps advanced 12 Fps ,and could playback on PocketPC ?
Is there any solution?

Which player do you use? I couldn't get 12FPS playback on my iPAQ 3950 with a 400Mhz CPU.

You obviously have three options:
1. Use a lower resolution such as 240x176. That contains about half the number of pixels of 320x240 and could be fast enough to decode at 24 fps or so. I know you probably don't want to do this, but it's still an option.
2. Wait until people optimize the decoder (libavcodec) for your architecture or use some other player. Also see: http://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4393
3. Dig into libavcodec code and optimize the decoder yourself ;)

get a compiler, get C++ and ASM documentation. Learn to code. Be sure to invest 2 years of study.

H264 decoding on a PDA will be very tough until a more optimized decoder, or more manufactures include some form of hardware acceleration, so AVC can be decoded on a portable, like the PSP.

I tried x264 2 months ago and tested on my HP 4350.
Your problem is (maybe), you use full H264 features. Try to turn off some functions in encoder, when encode. Especially deblock filter eats some power when decoding.
I tested some clips, and found this: XviD is still best for PPC encodes, with apropirate quant. matrix looks much better than x264 on ULR biterate (about 150kbps) and 320x240 on PPC display. And spare, XviD eats much less CPU power (therefore battery power) than H264.
Last time I was disappointed. But today, it can be different situation...
