Old time user flask, but new time to my Pocket PC.
I have a dvd I want to back up to a Pocket PC..
Im kinda lost in the codec thing to WMA..
Can anyone suggest an alternative
What methods can I use to view my dvd on my Ipaq?

can the ipaq do mp3? above 96kbps it's going to sound better than WMA (by far). WMA is so naff it's unbelievable... especially for a techinically better codec. WMA is a bit like the '59 corvair: unsafe at any bitrate :)
mp4 might be a good option too - if the ipaq can handle it. if it can, give MeGUI a shot - it should be as easy (easier?) as flask.

Regarding music files, I have some 160kbit mp3's I have successfully played on the ipaq.
Reason I mentioned WMA is because it comes with Window Pocket Media Player, which only opens MP3's and WMA's
I could tend to agree with you on WMA, I've not used it at all since the tech was lessor then divx 5.
If I could find a decent DivX player for the Ipaq (btw its a 300 mhtz) Im sure I can encode a backup down to 300x200 single channel sound producing a low bandwidth.
Any thoughts? I googled and came up short for a PPC DivX player.

Ok, I think I have this sorted out..
I found a Divx PPC Player on www.divx.com And was able to encode the matrix to about CBR 68kbit, 300x200 using XMPEG.
Copied the movie to about 60 megs using divx 6 codec and mp3 aud, perfect playback..
In end, I think this post gave me the correct frame of thought to make it work..
