Hello,
I am desperately seeking help in finding an AVI/multi-format tool that will allow me to cut unwanted areas of a video out and recombine.
I have scoured the net trying to find such a tool without much luck. Some of the tools I've tried split up the video in an equal amount of chunks, are slow, and won't let you pick the exact points to cut. The ones I've tried that will let you pick the exact point work extremely fast but always seem to ruin the audio sync which make them useless.
The one common factor I've found is that all of these tools come from websites that offer no support whatsoever for the product. Also it seems there are hundreds upon hundreds of these programs that all claim to do the same thing and I've run out of steam wading through them all trying to find one that actually works. Maybe there is some fundamental reason why this can't be done correctly with a high rate of success without re-encoding the video and if that's the case I guess I'm out of luck, but if there is a tool I've overlooked I'd be most appreciative to hear about it.
I do understand that there are many codecs that can be used to create an AVI and I can use AVIcodec to distinguish between these, so if there are certain AVI formats that don't lend themselves to be split I could determine that before I tried to split them. I would just need to know what these are.
Though I do need a tool that would handle quite a few formats, (AVI, mpeg, ogm, mkv, etc...) I would be satisfied at this point just finding one that would handle AVIs properly. I apologize if this topic should be posted elsewhere but I couldn't find a forum that seemed appropriate.
