Can I tell which encoder I used?

I have 3 encoders, 4 if you count the one bundled with Premiere Pro. Is it possible for me to look at one of my stored encoded mpeg2 files and tell which encoder I used on a project? In particular if I used CCE? I also have used Mainconcept (Premiere integrated and standalone), and QuEnc. I wondered if maybe it was in a extra info header or something. ??

You can open it in a binary (hex) editor (VirtualDub has one under Tools) and look for user data near the top of the file. Often the encoder is identified there.

Newest version of Gspot (free) lists some encoders that are used. Lists Tmpgenc if used. Not sure about cce

Nope, tried both Gspot (current/beta) and just looking with hex editor, at least the one's I'm using don't have anything obvious there.

Restream shows the character string in the header.
