I have several HD DVD 1080i and some 720i clips , but cannot get them to play correctly with vlc 0.8.4

They won't play at all in Zoom Player
An Error has occured!
Unable to play [XMEN_DD5.1DISC1.ts]
This may be due to a corrupt file, missing filters, filter
conflicts, or hardware related issues.

or BSplayer
Error Can't Open File

In VLC the playback is somewhat jumpy, and appears interlaced if that is what you call it with the horizontal lines during pan scenes. I have tried the interlace options, but no fix.

Am I missing some codec here?
Why will these other players not play the files?

XP sp1
Athlon 64 3400+
1GB Ram
Radeon 9500
Plenty of Drive Space

Thanks

I ran across this post while looking for discussion of the Elecard MPEG Player. You should try it--it plays HD on my PC where no other player has worked.

I've been looking for something to check lipsync on my HDTV grabs and this looks like it will work, and is smooth also.
